Official AAYSC Baseball Tournament Rules

Rules:  AAYSC follows Major League Baseball rules.

Roster Maximum:  Teams shall have no more than 18 players on their roster during the tournament.

Roster Minimum:  Teams shall be required to start with the minimum of 9 players.  If a team is reduced to less than 9 players, due to an injury or other circumstance, each team must agree to either: 1. play-on without any penalty  2. take an out in the vacant batting order position(s).

Team Uniforms: Player numbers will be required on all team uniforms.

Age Requirement:  No player shall exceed their age group before May 1st.  Birth Certificates or photo copies could be requested during the tournament.  Every NEW season begins August 1st.

Game Time:  The start of the game shall be determined by the home umpire after home plate meeting.  It must be clearly communicated to each team.

Forfeit:  The game shall be a forfeit if one or more teams are not ready to play by “game time” determined by the home plate umpire, within reason.  The game shall also be forfeited if a team does not show up for a game.  this could result in loss of entry fee, suspension and or banishment.

Home Team:  In pool-play the home team shall be determined by a coin toss.  Home team will also be required to keep the official score-book.

Age Group/Time Limit:  

  • 9, 10, 11, 12 (1 hr. 45 min.)
  • 13, 14 (2 hrs.)
  • 15, 16, 17, 18 (2 hrs.)

Age Group/Run Rule:  

  • 9, 10, 11, 12 (15 runs after 3 innings, 10 runs after 4 innings, 8 runs after 5 innings)
  • 13, 14 (15 runs after 4 innings, 10 runs after 5 innings)
  • 15, 16, 17, 18 (15 runs after 4 innings, 10 runs after 5 innings)

Championship Game:  There will be no time limits for championship games.  The run rule will still remain in affect.

Extra Hitter:  All age groups are allowed and Extra Hitter (EH) if they choose to bat 10.  The other option is to bat your roster.

Substitutions/Batting Roster:  Any team that bats their roster can substitute positions freely and are subject to normal pinch runner rules.

Substitutions:  Any team that does not bat their roster can substitute as you would expect, however, there are some limitations.  When a starter is substituted for, he may re-enter the game in the same batting position one more time.  The player that he subs for (who originally subbed for him) can no longer enter the game.

Pinch-Running:  If a team bats their roster, pinch running is subject to normal rules reverting to the last batted out.  Teams that do not bat their rosters are subject to only using their bench players for pinch runners.

 

TIE BREAKER AND ADVERSE WEATHER


Complete Game Tie Breaker:  If a game is tied after all of the allocated innings are complete, the “California” tie breaker goes into affect.  Each team will place their last batted out on second with 0 outs and plays out the inning until a winner is resolved.

Adverse Weather:  Games will be played in adverse weather conditions.  The format may be adjusted by reducing time limits, innings or run rules in order to complete the tournament.  These conditions should be understood and accepted by all players and coaches prior to tournament entry.  The Tournament Director will make all final decisions.

Refund Policy:  TBD
